To practice European historical martial arts safely, the fencer must be equipped with various types of protective gear:
fencing mask: resistance 350N or 1600N, depending on the level of protection and the desire to take part in competitions.
protective gloves: different thicknesses and levels of hand protection for contact with nylon or steel simulators
fencing mask covers: provide a higher level of protection than the fencing mask
rigid fencing mask cover: plastic shell protection
HEMA padded jacket and pants: in 350 or 800N fabric
gorget and occipital plate: essential for throat, neck protection, back head protector
forearm and arm protectors: foam, with plate, hinged
shin guards: hinged, with ankle protectors, even better!
shell bustier breastplate: to be worn under the HEMA jacket
You can add to your equipment according to your needs or the direction of your HEMA club: elbow pads, knee pads, thigh pads...
Dummy weapons are essential to the study of HEMA.
swords: short, long, side, nylon like Rawlings, flexible steel to avoid injury.
sabres: Polish, French, Hungarian, synthetic or steel
knives: knives, messers, rouelle daggers, left-handed.... in plastic, wood...
foam training weapons: different shapes of straight sword, long sword, saber, these replicas enable you to learn in complete safety.
sticks and canes: rattan, oak... of various lengths.
